Attendance is one of the key predictors of student’s success. Marengo County School System has been given funds to have an attendance officer at each school. Marengo High School hired Mrs. April Hunter as their Attendance Officer/ Parent Liaison. Mrs. Hunter has been a substitute teacher for the last two years and had a chance to build meaningful relationships with students and parents.

When asked about her thoughts of being the first attendant’s officer, she stated “It was a pleasure being accepted as the attendance officer/ parent liaison, and I am excited to be working at “Marengo High School. We have a lot of improvements that need to be made with attendance, and I will be using different strategies with parents to ensure that students get to school on time. “

Marengo County Board of Education is taking the necessary steps to ensure students success by hiring Mrs. Hunter to close the gap between student success and attendance.
