I am a 1984 graduate of Marengo High School.

I received and presently hold the following degrees:

                   Bachelor of Arts (1997)

                   Master's in Elementary Education (1999)

                   Master's as an Educational Specialist (Ed.S)- (2012)

Upon graduating from college with my first degree (August, 1997) I became a substitute teacher at my Alma Mater, (Marengo High School). In September of 1997, I was fortunate enough to have been offered a teaching position at two locations in Marengo County (7th/8th grade Social Studies at Marengo High School and a 3rd grade position at John Essex High School). Because my area of concentration was in elementary education, I chose the later position.

Throughout the course of my tenure as an educator at John Essex High School, I had the pleasure of teaching the following grades: 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th. In the 2013-2014 school year I taught a combo class of 4th and 5th grade students, which consisted of 14 students totaled. Due to low enrollment, John Essex High School closed its doors in May of 2014. During this time, I received my new assignment or location.

I have been teaching Fourth Grade at Marengo since August of 2014. Nothing gives me more pleasure than teaching children. It is my goal each year to impact if not all, at least one child's life.

My name is Karen Jo Jones. I was born and raised where I presently live (Magnolia). I am 52 years old. I am shy by nature although many would probably beg to differ. I am a proud parent of my son Eric, whom I love beyond words. I have many things I enjoy doing during my leisure, but the ones I enjoy the most are: solving crossword puzzles and challenges, reading the Bible, watching television (First 48, Reasonable Doubt, 20/20 on OWN, etc), and spending time with family and friends.
